#GivingTuesday 2017
ChLA has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities, and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on November 28, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the USA) and in conjunction with widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday is a way to kick off the holiday giving season and inspire us to collaborate in improving our local communities and to support in significant our cherished charities and causes. In 2016 ChLA raised over $3,000 in donations. These donations help to support diversity initiatives, international initiatives, graduate students, and research.
Last year, your generous support helped the International Committee bring distinguished children's literature author Luis Cabrera Delgado and scholars Zeila Frade and Niall Nance-Carroll to Tampa for a special focus panel on Cuban Children’s Literature. The generosity of our supporters on #GivingTuesday 2016 made a difference for many people last year. Together we can make an even bigger difference with #GivingTuesday 2017!
