International Committee Welcomes New Member

The ChLA International Committee is pleased to welcome a new member to our team. The committee consists of six rotating members elected for three-year terms and a chair appointed by the President with the approval of the Executive Board for a term of three years. Terms begin immediately following the ChLA annual business meeting.

Emily Murphy

Emily Murphy earned her Ph.D. from the University of Florida and is currently a writing lecturer at New York University Shanghai. She specializes in American studies, children's literature and culture, and post-1945 American literature, with a special emphasis on literature after 9/11. She has published articles and chapters in Children’s Literature Association Quarterly; The Lion and the Unicorn; Jeunesse: Young People, Texts, Cultures; and Prizing Children’s Literature: The Cultural Politics of Children’s Book Awards. In her current book project, she traces the deployment of the figure of the child in several American national myths that were popular during the Cold War.
