Global South Speaker Series: Dr. Fatemeh (Neda) Farnia

The communications committee invites you to join the upcoming Children's Literature Association's Global South Speakers Series!

Our esteemed guest speaker is Dr. Fatemeh (Neda) Farnia of the Daarvak Literature Department of Daarvak Verlag in Germany.

Her talk is entitled "My Own Coming of Age Story as an Iranian Woman: Discussing the Gradual Empowerment of Girls Throughout the Years Following the Islamic Revolution in 1979 as Reflected in Farhad Hasanzadeh’s Works."

Protests to Islamic laws manifested in national unrest two years ago with Iranians chanting “Woman, Life, Freedom.” Dr. Farnia believes the empowered heroines in Children’s and YA Literature have helped younger generations find their voice. In this talk, Dr. Farnia will discuss Farhad Hasanzadeh’s works over four decades.
